Mecha Xpander

We have a lot of Xpander - a Mitsubishi Car - where I live - Ho Chi Minh city. I've always found their stop light's shape look cool and stands out. "These will make fine horns for a mech” I thought, plus their strong body lines and shapes would make a fine and powerful mech. That’s pretty much seal the deal so I get my pen down for some concept sculpt !

Growing up Gundam Seed was the very first anime I watched, captured my youth’s imagination even now. The gundam designs, music, sound track, animations is still one of the best to me. And since Xpander is also a Japanese car why don’t I make a Gundam-inspired mech out of the design language of Xpander with that stop light for it’s horn ? Add in a pilot to and we have a round-trip character.

Concept sculpt, highpoly in Zbrush. Detail clean up, shader, render in Blender. Post Process in Photoshop.
